The early 1960s at PAFA were transformative years. As students we were tempted and titillated by many of the current and past “ISMS,” and most of us sampled and participated in them, as I did, by a thorough investigation of the Plastic Values. But paramount to some of us was total immersion in the history of the purpose of the Academy, as no one can build on a vacuum. By the age of fifty I knew that my métier had settled on a complete immersion in the continuing miracles of creation, and how to express those through our time honored art of painting, and share with my fellow man.
